| 1 | AN ACT concerning utilities.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 8-209 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (220 ILCS 5/8-209 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 8-209. Utility credit reporting. If a public utility | ||||||
| 8 | reports a customer to a credit reporting agency for non-payment | ||||||
| 9 | of an outstanding utility bill, then a public utility shall | ||||||
| 10 | notify the credit reporting agency within 5 business days of | ||||||
| 11 | any full payment made with certified funds or cash. For the | ||||||
| 12 | purposes of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, | ||||||
| 13 | certified funds means instruments that are guaranteed by the | ||||||
| 14 | issuing institution or have cleared the issuing institution.
