AN ACT concerning utilities.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding | ||||
Section 8-209 as follows:

(220 ILCS 5/8-209 new) | ||||
Sec. 8-209. Utility credit reporting. If a public utility | ||||
reports a customer to a credit reporting agency for non-payment | ||||
of an outstanding utility bill, then a public utility shall | ||||
notify the credit reporting agency within 5 business days of | ||||
any full payment made with certified funds or cash. For the | ||||
purposes of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, | ||||
certified funds means instruments that are guaranteed by the | ||||
issuing institution or have cleared the issuing institution.
