Bill Title: Creates the Public Self-Care of Diabetes Act. Provides that a person with diabetes, or parent or legal guardian of a person with diabetes, may self-administer insulin or administer insulin for his or her child in any location, public or private, where the person or their parent or legal guardian are authorized to be, irrespective of whether the injection site is uncovered during or incidental to the administration of insulin. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning public health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Public
5Self-Care of Diabetes Act.
6 Section 5. Purpose. The General Assembly finds that insulin
7injection is necessary for diabetics and their continued health
8and longevity. The General Assembly finds that forcing
9diabetics to administer their personal insulin injections out
10of public view is unnecessarily restrictive.
11 Section 10. Public self-care of diabetes location. A person
12with diabetes, or parent or legal guardian of a person with
13diabetes, may self-administer insulin or administer insulin
14for his or her child in any location, public or private, where
15the person, or the person's parent or legal guardian, is
16authorized to be, irrespective of whether the injection site is
17uncovered during or incidental to the administration of
18insulin.
19 Section 15. Illegal drugs. Nothing in this Act shall be
20construed to authorize the use of any illegal drug.

1 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
